Welcome..

New year, time to get all of my thoughts written down somewhere!

Welcome, and I hope I can leave everyone who visits my blog with something interesting to ponder...

There are so many things that I have on my mind that all I can do is blab it all out as follows:

  • Black love, life as a young woman of color, relationships, friendships, so-called "success", happiness, insecurities, confidence, travel, the Caribbean, Africa, politics, love, Black men, West Indian men, true love, media, news, power, sexuality, sex, music, reggae, soca, Afrobeat, chance, risk...and the list goes on....

You get my drift? lol Well, please come along for this journey, and feel free to offer comments, suggestions, insight, advice, ideas...

I want this to be a place for real, honest, raw, radical, uplifting, and thoughtful black expression. I think that there is just way too much "standard-ness" and "average-ness" being shoved down the throats of young adults of color. There is a whole world out there of other cultures, an ENTIRE diaspora, so please... let's really try to step outside our comfort zones and, as my West Indian boyfriend loves to put it, "be a big picture person". My feeling is that people of color, especially African Americans, must learn to become big picture people. Lets try to not get caught up in this "within the borders" American mentality. The opportunities and freedoms that exist today allow us the flexibility to do things like...yes...live outside the U.S and date outside the U.S.

Basically, I am really looking to hear feedback from people with a like mind or who may be nervously starting to ponder what their "purpose" in life or in first world societies is. I'm interested to hear from people who have actively expanded their minds to live outside the U.S. or UK for example. I know I can't be the only young black person who has these feelings!

Check out the pictures on my page... to get an idea of what I'm getting at. Feel the emotions and thoughts that they evoke in you. This may be awkward, clumsy, confusing, unpredictable, emotional, and crazy at times, but let's take a trip...we may not return.

Let us begin...
