The Significance of My Blog's Title: "Blessed Love"

You might be thinking it was just some random airy selection. But there is significance to everything I write, every picture, photo, or color on my blog!

The idea to name my blog "Bless-ed Love" stems from a gorgeous Caribbean evening that my good friend J and I had. The two of us were vacationing in Barbados, meeting lots of men, having lots of rum punches, spending amazing days relaxing on the beaches, and dancing ourselves to exhaustion in the nightclubs.

One evening we met a lovely, sexy, and friendly Bajan rasta. His demeanor was so comfortable and relaxed, just happy but yet smooth with it all (as most West Indian men are) *sigh* Me, my friend, and this rasta exchanged some good conversation, and when it was time to say goodbye to him, we said "bye" and he said "Bless-ed Love", and gave us each black power fist bumps!

My friend and I were just mesmerized at something that probably appears so simply to the average West Indian. But the way those words slid off that black man's lips, and adorned the two of like we were QUEENS was just TOO MUCH.

I could just lose myself in the memory of that sultry Caribbean night..

As we walked away, we giggled with each other and chatted about how we had NEVER had an American brotha even remotely say goodbye to us with such sexiness, confidence, clarity, swag, unity... I could go on... There was just so much built into those two words, and it was just another reason why I knew the U.S. just was not home, and that a black country was the place for me.

So I bless my blog with the words of that beautiful rasta in Barbados...
