Persistance and Barbados

So persistence really is key.  After more than two years of applying to positions at the U.S. embassy in Barbados, yesterday I finally got a response from their Human Resources Assistant asking me two questions regarding my application for a seasonal position.  I was shocked (in my Bajan voice)!

Although I am continuing with my plans to work in Namibia beginning this December, I'm ecstatic to know that I actually have a contact at the U.S. embassy in Barbados.  I am going to work the hell out of my time in Namibia and of the future I would like to have in both Africa and the Caribbean.  I don't know if I will be offered a position with the embassy or not, but for now I'm soaking up the feelings of possibly having the opportunity to work in Africa and the Caribbean.  This year I'm finally seeing my "black and international" dreams materialize again.
