My Namibia Packing List

Soooo, I am approaching the final super duper serious countdown to leaving for Namibia!!!  And so that means I have the MOTHER of all packing lists.  Don't believe me?  Take a look.. 

Solar shower, lantern/flashlight, penlight flashlight, camera, descent watch (timex), solar alarm, USB 3G for internet, glasses, world phone, suitcase/luggage/ and carry-on, hair, walking, dress shoes, and flip flops (Payless), hair grease, bug guard, facial wash, shampoo, conditioner (Hair Mayonnaisse), toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, baby wipes, nail polish, nail clipper, comforter (Big Lots), make-up: concealer, eye makeup toner, blush, eye liner, mascara, lipsticks, warm clothes: fleece, pj set, fleece blanket, water bottle (Nalgene), sleeping bag (sporting supply store), pictures from home (Mommy), hats: baseball cap, big floppy hat, advil (know generic name), set of flat twin sheets, 2 towels, inflatable pllow, sunscreen, vitamins: iron, multivitamin, calcium, E, books (professional, leisure), batteries: alkaline and for digital camera, battery charger, adapter (buy in Namibia), power strip, memory sticks/USB, passport case that you can wear across you, ESL materials, spending money/ATM card, swiss army knife, wall calendar, pocket English dictionary, umbrella, chapstick (pack of multiple), small gifts for Namibians?, skirts/dressy dress for weddings/formal occasions, a light jacket, sweat shirts, socks, poncho, purification tablets, light skirts (target/walmart), light weight tops (H&;M), strong sandals, sunglasses, bug spray w/DEET, DayQuil, NyQuil, pepto bismol, packaged tissues, tweezers, mirror (beauty supply store), backpack, travel size toiletries container, swimsuit (one piece), loose linen tops/blouses (2/3) white, khaki (H&M), Ultra Hair Sheen hair grease (3), combs, brush, shower cap, blue sized curlers, jewelry, Kotex, lotion, Vaseline, qtips, cotton balls, first aid kit, towelette polish removers from Avon, cell phone (AT&T, iphone), Woolite/Tide packages from Majellan’s magazine, dishes? cups? silverware?, bed bug spray, hydrocortizone cream for rashes, hand sanitizer, scarf, tote bags, mosquito nets (3), anti-malarial pills

sharpies, magazines from home (Discovery Kids), dry erase markers & board, movies/DVDs:  Coming To America, This Is It, Roots, The Cosby Show, Fresh Prince, Memorex ipod speaker (Target), Books with easy short stories, pens, world map, map of the U.S., map of Africa, index cards, crayons and markers, English grammar books, stapler & staples, 2 activity books 

GULP!

  1. Whew. I'm tired just reading this. Excited that you're taking Cosby and Fresh Prince, my kids also love My Wife and Kids. A solar shower? What exactly is that?

  2. I too became winded after reading your packing lists. Lol. Quite the packing. So it looks like you are about to enjoy quite the trip. as well.

    Love the DayQuil and NyQuil mentions.

  3. @Fly Girl: Yes, have to try to bring media that portrays US in a positive light!! A solar shower is something that I attach to a shower head that will use the sun's energy to make my shower water warm (since I probably won't be staying in building that has hot water).

    @Don: LOL, yes DayQuil and NyQuil are so key to me... since I anticipate catching a virus or two as my body adapts to the new environment.. they always do the job.. :)
