Elégance Africa

Umm.. yeah.
So I was invited to a francophone African & Caribbean fashion show the other night in Manhattan. Who invited me do you ask? WELL, my diplomat friend from the Ivory Coast who I stood up a few months ago, LOL. I randomly decided to strike up a conversation when I saw him on gchat the other day and he turned out to be a really interesting guy, as well as someone whose career I can learn A LOT from. And hey, networking is key. I met some interesting professionals as well. A Nigerian American woman around my age who works at a non profit invited me to spend Christmas with her in Nigeria!  (WISH I could go!!! But I'll be leaving for Namibia :) I also met a FINE brother with dreads from London. There were also tons of gorgeous black men around, on every corner. I'm glad I took the initiative to re-connect with my friend, and the event was fantastic as well. Always good to see representation from the Africa that the media does not show. Below are some snippits from the show. I wasn't sitting from the best angle so apologies for the random pole cutting everyone in half... Enjoy!

  1. Never before attended or seen footage of an African or Caribbean fashion show, so the photographs and video are appreciated.

Your networking is admired cause I cannot even imagine what it would feel like to spend Christmas in Nigeria. I honestly didn't believe Christmas was even celebrated in most places such as Africa.

  2. You're so welcome Don, and thanks for checking out my (very amateur) footage! It was definitely an experience! Oh and a lot of my "networking" is purely Divine.. people seemingly get placed onto my path.
