***A Random Warning***

Think twice about giving your credit/debit card info over the phone when ordering take out by delivery!!!

So my best friend and I ordered Domino's the other night.  She paid for it over the phone with her debit card.  So yesterday when she went to pay her cable bill, she found out her card was totally over-drafted.  When she went online to check her account she saw two purchases that she did NOT make.  One was for $100 to Verizon Wireless and the other was for $324 to a company called "JPay".  JPay turns out to be some prison credit system, which you use to wire money to people in prison??!!

So my friend and I did some backtracking.  We quickly realized that the Domino's employee who took her order over the phone used her credit card info and her home address (remember, they now have your address because they're delivering your pizza to your home) to fraudulently make purchases a few hours after our order.  Crazy right?  They totally cleaned out her account.

So apparently the employee at Domino's first paid their Verizon Wireless bill and then wired money to some inmate in a Georgia Correctional facility - all using my friend's credit card info and home address!!  *shudders*

Sidenote - the funny thing is that right after my friend made the order and got off the phone, she was like, "boy, he had an attitude".  So this was some douche criminal with an attitude to boot!

So now she's dealing with the bank and the police department making claims reports so that she can (hopefully) get her money back.  Luckily they didn't have her other card's information, because that account has way more money in it and that would have been a really major loss.

Anyway, this is something I never even thought about, but I think it's a story worth sharing!

  1. I believe if this had happened to me I would have kindly walked into Domino's and showed my "disapproval" to the employee. It's too hard out here for someone to be stealing (taking) my money.

People just don't car anymore. I mean, the guy had to have known that he would be caught and still committed the crime.

  2. IF this happened in the USA, the fastest way to get her money back is to file immediately against the local Dominoes in Small Claims court. Filing fees are cheap, you don't need an attorney, a judge makes the decision. Dominoes is likely to just pay it up when the papers are filed, to avoid publicity. Even so, if it goes to court, small claims court works relatively fast, the judge is likely to award her her monies and costs. She should look into this right away, the police aren't likely to mention this.

  3. @ Don: LOL Who are you telling?! I would have done the same thing. Knowing me Dominos would be the FIRST, okay no, maybe I would be walking into Dominos with the cops while on my cell w/the bank. But I guess my friend has her reasons for not having contacted Dominos yet. The police and the bank are doing their own sort of "investigations". And that's exactly what her mom said - people just don't care at ALL anymore. Unbelievable. And yeah, the whole crime seems slightly amateur, but then to find out he has connections w/an inmate is not that amateur so idk...

@DearMissMermaid: Hey! Yes, this was a Dominos in Bronx, NY. I will DEF pass on your suggestion to my friend because truthfully neither she nor I have ever been in a situation like this so we appreciate any advice. I too had a feeling that cops (not taking her situation too seriously) could easily not give her the detailed direction that she needs. Thanks SO much!!
