Namibia: So, I went to a travel clinic to get advised about vaccinations and health advisories for Namibia. I left that office slightly terrified, lol. Although several people have told me that water in most parts of Namibia is safe to drink from the tap, I will definitely be boiling all of my water for a good 10 - 12 minutes. There are lots of sicknesses that you can apparently catch through water as well. It will also take my body about 3 months to get accustomed to the new environment.
Romance: Well (smile) my Senegalese friend and I are continuing to get to know each other. The acuteness of his personality continues to amaze me. He is so perceptive and really keeps me on my toes in conversation, which let me remind you - is a total turn on to me. He's just extremely bright and wise as well. The brother is sharp. At some point intellect has become the biggest aphrodisiac to me. Not wealth or looks. But he is good looking though... (smiles again). It does make me uneasy that I'm developing feelings for him just as I'm about to leave the country for year. So in a way, I'm trying hard not to fall for him. That's a totally new behavior for me. But a year is a long and short time. I'd be naive to think that as a man he won't meet and possibly hook up with other women while I'm gone. And this is all if I come back in a year. I may stay for two. I would not expect him to be committed to me and he would not expect the same from me (at least I don't think he does). But then he is calling me every night. I don't know what to think and we have this small amount of time to get to know each other over phone and then it will be over Skype/email. Maybe we'll just be friends. Except when we see each other? lol I'm starting to fall for him...already. Aaaah! Here I go... going gaga and I've only known him for a month. Nevertheless, I am surprisingly okay with us being friends for the long term. That's how it is sometimes. Okay this clearly deserves an entire post..
Current Events: So we all woke up to the news that Juan Williams has been fired from NPR for his offensive comments about Muslims. Oh well! I get sick and tired of seeing him shuck and jive on Fox News so you know he wasn't getting too much sympathy about NPR. Random story - when I was in college I went to the White House Correspondents Dinner one year. Our Mr. Williams was totally eying me up and down like I was a piece of meat. Don't get me wrong, I was flattered, but knowing his angle on everything black, I was not impressed. And then he was openly sizing me up? Please. Then I read that he was accused of sexually harassing female staffers at the Washington Post. Yeah, totally makes sense.
Hilarious - the comments towards Juan Williams. I imagine he has shucked and jived for the very last time, as far as FOX is concerned.
ReplyDeleteThey've used him up enough, so I doubt there is any more usage for his minstrel act.
LOL, yes Mr. Williams can retire the jigaboo act! No one is impressed either! After all that what does he really have to show for it?? Was it really worth it?
