December 28th is Departure Day!!

Yep, so I leave for Namibia on December 28.  Here's my travel itinerary:
  • 9:04a flight from New York to Washington DC
  • 10:30a arrive in Washington DC
  • 3pm  pre-departure meeting with group and program director
  • 5:40p - leave on South African Airways for Dakar, Senegal (7 hour flight)
  • About 6:10a arrive in Dakar, Senegal (synchronicity)
  • Leave at 7:10a for Johannesburg, South Africa (8 hour flight)
  • Arrive in Johannesberg at 5:30p Dec 29
  • Hop on connecting flight to Namibia which may be about 2 hours
Oh yeah, that's one HECK of a long 2 days!  lol  But it's all soooo surreal!!  I'm getting butterflies just typing all of this.  I decided to book a flight to DC to arrive pretty early JUST IN CASE there's any foolishness with delays etc.  The child of my mother that I am, I'd just rather be super early, because there's NO WAY I'm missing my South African Airways flight.

My fellow Namibia volunteers and I have been e-introduced via our Google group and it really seems like a great bunch of people.  I'm psyched.

Now the only thing is that I have to do is SERIOUSLY buckle down on purchasing everything on my Namibia packing list.  I also still have to get typhoid, yellow fever, and possibly a chicken pox vaccinations since I've never had that.  I also need to buy 2 huge pieces of luggage as well as check weight restrictions and costs.

I'm a little murky on whether I should just start blogging on my Namibia blog from now on, which is why I stay around these parts :)  I'm gonna miss this blog, it's like my little baby,  lol.  But I'll return to it once I get back.  Or maybe I'll just reserve this blog for more personal postings.  Either way, I'll be sure you let everyone one when I'll begin posting on my Namibian blog.

Laters :)
