Shopping For Namibia - Round 1

So I went to the new Target in Harlem yesterday with my 3 page long Namibia list in hand to begin shopping for my year abroad!  Who knew Target had two travel sections?  One section has travel sized products and containers.  The other section actually has a travel line called Embark which sells things like mini document holders, inflatable pillows, luggage, travel totes, mini irons etc.  It was so refreshing to find this department there because it means I don't have to spend an arm and a leg at a travel or camping store.  There was so much more I could have bought yesterday but I quickly realized I wouldn't be able to carry it all home alone on the subway, so I had to limit myself.  Plus I have to pace myself financially as well.  But I definitely found myself getting super excited and wanting to buy everything in one day!   My goal is to have everything purchased and have myself fully immunized by December 1st.

It was definitely a surreal feeling to be buying all these new things for living in Africa.  It's always interesting when you get into a new apartment or new country and you've got all of this newly purchased stuff around you.  I'm really beginning a new period of my life.

So here's what I bought yesterday:

- 1 pack of underwear
- 1 pack of socks
- 4GB memory stick
- sony headphones
- 2 Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Washes
- 2 packs of cotton balls
- pack of 3 Chapsticks
- bottle of Nyquil
- liquid travel bottles
- soap container
- pack of wash cloths
- 2 bath towels
- Embark travel comforter with inflatable pillow and eye mask
- Embark document holder for around the waist
- Embark document holder
- Embark mini messenger bag
- pair of sunglasses
- Snickers bar :)  Hey I was hungry!
- 16 bars of Dial soap were donated to me yesterday by friend's mom
