To Ghana and the Congo by way of Madison Ave

S
o, Manhattan has these giant street fairs for several weekends in the summertime... today's was all along Madison Avenue. I love the fact that Manhattan sometimes has this villagy (I know, that's not a word lol) feel to it. On almost every corner there are these fantastic fruit and vegetable stands where you can get mangos, cherries, papaya, kiwi, all sorts of stuff, and they're out there 24/7.

Anyway, I stopped at a table that was selling Buddhism themed artwork and jewelery as well as a table selling African music. As I was walking all I heard was rhythm and I couldn't resist! lol I ended up buying 2 cds. One disc is Highlife music from Ghana, and the other is Soukous music from the Congo... 2 genres I knew little about. Fantastic music and it's amazing how close a lot of it is to the Caribbean's Soca music. Lol at my random fingers...
